911 is an English pop boyband comprised of members Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable, and Spike Dawbarn. Founded in Glasgow in 1995, the band released their debut single “Night to Remember” in May 1996. The following year, their album The Journey achieved Gold certification by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). 911 subsequently released two more albums, Moving On and There It Is, both of which achieved Silver certification in 1998 and 1999 respectively. Nguyen Sang, a renowned painter, has made significant contributions to modern Vietnamese painting. He is hailed as a master of the realist art movement, and is one of the four iconic Vietnamese artists of the 20th century, along with Nguyen Tu Nghiem, Duong Bich Lien, and Bui Xuan Phai. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Nguyen Sang’s birth (August 1, 1923 – August 1, 2023), the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, organized a talk show to reveal lesser-known stories about the artist. On display are over 20 publications chosen among more than 1,000 works published during the first development stage of Quốc Ngữ in the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, that the University Library of Languages and Civilisations (BULAC) has collected so far. An exhibition entitled “Chữ Quốc ngữ, a fundamental factor in the renewal of Vietnamese culture from 1860 to 1945” will be open until May 31.
