The Hue government on Sunday evening held an opening ceremony for the third pedestrian street, which is aimed at serving tourists on the weekend. The ceremony gathered thousands of visitors who came to experience traditional folk games and enjoy a wide selection of foods. This one-kilometer-long Hai Ba Trung Pedestrian Street costs roughly VND97 billion (US$4.1 million) in investment. The stone-paved route boasts various plants and a lighting system. Organised by national carrier Vietnam Airlines’ in-flight magazine Heritage since 2013, the contest aims to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage and natural values of Vietnam. Photographers are encouraged to send their photos of historical and cultural relics, art and architectural works, as well as beautiful landscapes till July 31 at the latest. The award-winning photos will be featured in different publications by Heritage, offering readers, including foreign visitors, a good insight into Vietnamese people and their rich culture, as well as the country’s stunning landscapes. This stage is one of the most arduous challenges of this year’s Binh Duong International Women’s Cycling Tournament, stretching about 120 kilometers from Thong Nhat District in southern Dong Nai Province to Bao Loc City in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong. The cyclists had to conquer both Chuoi Pass and Bao Loc Pass, with the latter being the highlight of the stage. Before reaching Bao Loc Pass, Tran Thi Ngoc Trang of Team Vinh Long attempted to separate herself from the rest but she failed. Trang was caught up by other strong contenders, namely Shoko Kashiki of Team Biwase – Binh Duong, Nguyen Thi Thi and Nguyen Thi Thu Mai of Team Tap Doan Loc Troi, and Somrat Phetdarin of Team Thailand.  The 10-kilometer Bao Loc Pass posed a lot of challenges to the cyclists, allowing Kashiki and Phetdarin to emerge and lead the group.
