The southern coastal province of Tra Vinh is taking significant strides in the realm of renewable energy with the approval of five wind power plant projects. Together, these ventures boast a total investment of over 13.8 trillion VND (approximately 540 million USD).

Among these projects is the second phase of Wind Power Plants V1-5 and V1-6, located in Hiep Thanh commune, Duyen Hai town. With a substantial capacity of 80 MW and an investment of 3.8 trillion VND, this undertaking promises to make a notable impact.

Additionally, the expansion of Wind Power Plant V1-2 in Truong Long Hoa commune, Duyen Hai town, will add 48 MW to the grid, backed by an investment of 2.39 trillion VND. This expansion demonstrates a continued commitment to harnessing the power of wind energy in the region.

Phase 2 of Wind Power Plant V1-3, also located in Truong Long Hoa commune, contributes a further 48 MW with an investment of 2.25 trillion VND. This project underscores the province’s dedication to diversifying its energy portfolio.

The Dong Hai 3 Wind Power Plant, situated in Dong Hai commune, Duyen Hai district, stands as another prominent addition. With a capacity of 48 MW and an investment of 2.7 trillion VND, this plant reinforces Tra Vinh’s position as a leader in wind energy development.

Rounding out these initiatives is Phase 2 of Wind Power Plant V1-1 Tra Vinh, found in Truong Long Hoa commune, Duyen Hai town. This project, with a capacity of 48 MW and an investment of 2.5 trillion VND, is slated for implementation in 2025, while the remaining projects are expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Nguyen Van Phuong, Director of the Tra Vinh Department of Finance, affirmed that these wind power projects adhere to the Land Law and relevant legal provisions. The province has carefully allocated land for these developments, ensuring a transparent and efficient bidding process for selecting investors.

Currently, Tra Vinh province is home to five operational wind power projects, totaling 322MW, which are already integrated into the national power grid. Additionally, four more wind power projects, with a combined capacity of 344 MW, are under construction and targeted for completion by the end of this year.

Furthermore, the province has a functioning 140MW solar power project and is developing a 25MW biomass power initiative, showcasing its commitment to exploring diverse renewable energy sources.

With these ambitious wind power projects, Tra Vinh is not just generating clean energy but also contributing to the country’s energy security and sustainability goals.
