Mozambique honors President Ho Chi Minh with Inauguration of Plaque
Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and President of the Municipal Council of Maputo Eneas Comiche attended an inauguration ceremony for the new plaque of Ho Chi Minh Avenue. The avenue was originally named by Samora Machel, the first President of Mozambique, in 1977.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Xuan emphasized the historical connection and sincere affection between the two countries. She highlighted the significance of President Ho Chi Minh’s name being given to one of the most beautiful avenues in the capital Maputo. Xuan also mentioned the importance of preserving and promoting the good friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The naming of Ho Chi Minh Avenue reflects the respect for Vietnam’s late leader and symbolizes the solidarity, friendship, loyalty, and close ties between the two countries.
President Comiche expressed pride and honor in having an avenue named after President Ho Chi Minh. He emphasized the joint effort and continuous action from both sides to preserve and honor Ho Chi Minh Avenue and its nameplate.
Comiche also highlighted the significance of Vice President Xuan’s opening of the new nameplate for Ho Chi Minh Avenue and encouraged further cooperation and friendship between the two countries, especially among the young generations.
Ho Chi Minh Avenue is a prominent road in Maputo, passing through the city hall and intersecting with famous streets such as Karl Marx Street and Lenin Street. The avenue, adorned with acacia trees, holds sentimental value for the Mozambican people and tourists.
During her visit, Vice President Xuan also met with various Mozambican leaders, including President Filipe Nyusi and President of the Assembly of Mozambique Esperança Bias. They discussed deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, training, and healthcare.

Vice President Xuan expressed Vietnam’s readiness to share its experience in aquaculture and agro-aquatic product processing with Mozambique, in order to ensure food security in the African nation and the region. President Nyusi affirmed Mozambique’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Vietnam and creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in the country.
During her stay in Mozambique, Vice President Xuan also met with Secretary-General of Frelimo Roque Silva and held meetings with the Vietnamese Embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the country.
