Exhibition features 50 fine art works on the heritage of Hanoi’s ancient villages

The event drew the participation of nine artists including Duong Tuan, Bui Van Tuat, Chu Viet Cuong, Minh Dong, Can Manh Tuong, Dat Phu, Tuan Dat, Nguyen The Long and Nguyen Minh.

50 fine art works reflect the beauty of Cuu Village (Van Tu, Phu Xuyen, Hanoi) – a 500-year-old village.

Villas in Cuu Village are a harmonious combination of ancient Vietnamese and French architecture.

The works not only show the beauty of the old villas, but also the scenery of the village and daily life of the villagers.

The exhibition will run until May 26.

The question that is often asked is: how can one enjoy Ho Chi Minh City when they know they will have to deal with rain? Well, there is good news. The rain in Ho Chi Minh City is quite predictable during about 80 percent of the wet season. Different regions in Vietnam have different wet seasons, but in Ho Chi Minh City, you can expect an afternoon storm to roll in anytime after 2:00 pm. These storms, especially the heavy ones, usually only last for an hour or so before the skies clear up and everything returns to normal. Many locals simply plan their day around the rain. In fact, when the rain is most predictable, locals rarely take out their raincoats because they are able to stay indoors during the short periods of precipitation. It is an uncommon daily routine among the elderly population in Vietnam. Vu Quy Hien, 65, and his entire family share a love for sports. This deep appreciation for sports comes from his father, Vu Ngoc Lau, 94. The swimmers at Rach Mieu Swimming Pool in Phu Nhuan District witness this man take a dip every day. It was Lau who inspired his family members to engage in physical activity. Lau happily shared that he swims around 500-700 meters in a large pool each day. Sporting spirit spreads among family members “My father became my inspiration for swimming.
